Angela R. Garmon
This is a picture of a conquerer. Two years after starting the company, Angela was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in May of 2018. Instead of putting her life or the business on hold, as she went through almost a year of chemotherapy, surgeries, and radiation, she put a plan in place to move everything forward. Angela decided that she would define her situation instead of it defining her. She served her clients with excellence, repositioned the ARG brand, certified the company as a WBE, and scaled the company in the midst of it all.
Angela was able to accomplish a lot over that season. In 2018, she also accepted the president-elect role for NAWBO Phoenix. When she was asked to take on the initiative to ensure that the chapter received its 5-Star status, she accepted the task. The chapter was awarded it for the first time that year. During her term as president 2019-2020, Angela worked diligently to create more exposure for the chapter and to influence change that would propel women businesses forward. The chapter launched the Women with Vision Conference, which brought together different state leaders and women in business to discuss the unique challenges that women business owners face in the valley.
Completing her term as president, NAWBO Phoenix received the Chapter of the Year and other recognitions (including 5-Star status again) from the national association. Additionally, fighting through COVID-19, she and the NAWBO Phoenix leadership, worked together to ensure that the chapter stayed relevant in providing information and resources to its members. As a result, the chapter was also awarded a Silver Stevie Award for Non-Profit response during COVID. This is the type of passion and focus Angela brings to every project. She delivers excellence and results regardless of the position paid or volunteer.
Speaking of 5-Star status. Angela's career started in hospitality. Prior to starting her business, she worked in finance and process improvement in some of the top resorts and hotels on the West Coast. She had the pleasure of working in 5-Star and 5-Diamond environments, new builds, and transitioning hotels. Therefore, she understands the importance and impact of great leadership, culture, and brand experience.
Working up the ranks to an Interim Director of Finance and Six Sigma Green Belt for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Angela saved the company millions by implementing a Six Sigma project that became nationally recognized as a best practice project, which helped to chart the course for her progression.
Angela has a true passion to see others succeed. Her time spent in management and
leading teams as they rolled out Six Sigma projects made her realize that people fear change. Reluctantly, many leaders will admit they do not handle change well and do not have the proper training to lead change management efforts. Couple this with her board work and the presidency of NAWBO Phoenix drives her passion to see other women and minority businesses succeed. Angela understands that poorly managed change negatively impacts the bottom line. Her mission is to close the disparity gaps that exist for women and minorities, stabilizing firms, and generating wealth in diverse communities that are often underrepresented or underutilized in the business ecosystem.
Angela is an Advocate, Educator, and Strategist through seasons of change. She serves as your advocate for positive change management, ensuring that you maximize the time to your advantage. Since most leaders do not have the right tools to lead change, she becomes an educator, ensuring that you have all of the tools and resources to create sustainable growth now and for the future. She serves as your strategist, ensuring that you have the right plan in place to move forward as you Align, Redefine, and Grow through change.
